37th Annual Great Lakes Area Traditional Pow Wow
Hosted by the Hannahville Indian Community

This year’s theme is “Honoring Mother Earth”.

The pow wow will be held June 21-23, 2013 at the Woodland Gathering Grounds. The grounds are located behind the Island Resort & Casino. Turn on Hannahville B-1 Road and follow the Sweetgrass Golf Course fence until you see the Woodland Gathering Grounds sign.

This event is open to the public, everyone is welcome! Entrance fee is $5. Elders 55 & over and Children under 5 are free. The fee includes a button that is good for all 3 days. The button also allows you to eat at all the offered meals: Friday evening feast, Saturday breakfast & dinner feast, and Sunday breakfast & bagged lunch.

Host Drum: Bear Creek from Rankin Reserve Ontario

Co-Host Drum: Battle River from Minnesota

Invited Drums: Young Firekeepers from Forest County, Wisconsin and Chub Lake from Minnesota

Head Male Dancer: Michael Fish, Keshena, Wisconsin

Head Female Dancer: Marlene Syrette, Rankin, Ontario

Co-Emcees: Marin “Mark” Denning, Milwaukee, WI and Beedahsiga Elliott, Ontario

Head Veteran Dancer: Ray Cadotte, Wisconsin

Arena Director: Tim McGregor, Ontario

There will be honorariums for all 4 grand entries for dancers that register and are in regalia. There will also be drum honorarium for the first 10 drums that register. Registration will be located within the Pow Wow Committee pavillion directly behind the Emcee stand. Registration times will be announced throughout the duration of the Pow Wow.

FRIDAY- 7:00 p.m.
SATURDAY- 1:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m.
SUNDAY- 12:00 p.m.

CONTESTS
Team Dance and Hand Drum. 1st place prize for each contest is $350. Registration for contests will be located within the Pow Wow Committee pavillion directly behind the Emcee stand. Registration times will be announced throughout the duration of the Pow Wow.

LODGING
Island Resort & Casino Hotel 1-800-682-6040. There is also a RV Park located next to the Casino and camping available on the Pow Wow grounds.

*No outside raffles unless prior approval from the Committee.

The Great Lakes Area Traditional Pow Wow is a drug and alcohol free event. The Pow Wow Committee and Hannahville Indian Community are not responsible for any lost/stolen items or accidents.

Pow Wow Workers

(15 - 20) temporary workers needed for the Hannahville Indian Community Annual Pow-Wow weekend of June 21 - 23, 2013.  Duties will include maintenance, security, and gate workers.  Must be able to pass a background and a drug and alcohol post offer drug test and pay for the test before work begins.

Wage: $9.00 per hour.

Deadline: Friday, June 14, 2013. ORIENTATION JUNE 18, 2013.

How to Apply:  Submit completed “Application for Employment” to the Human Resources Department in the Tribal Administration building or download application AND MAIL original application to N14911 Hannahville B-1 Road, Wilson, MI 49896.

Princess Contest Information

Miss Great Lakes 2013
Competition limited to Hannahville Tribal membership or descendancy living on reservation, between the ages 8-18 and single with no children. Additional qualifications are listed on the cover sheet. All contestants need to fill out the the neccessary paperwork and submit it by the deadline. All information is listed on the cover sheet.
