The GIS Specialist is responsible for the proper management of natural resources data by collecting, storing, retrieving, and disseminating various digital data utilized by tribal departments as well as keeping an organized inventory of important tribal information.  Duties include managing the tribal geographical information system (GIS), applying global positioning system (GPS) technology as needed, carry out tasks necessary to develop an environmental compliance electronic network between tribal water utility operations and water quality monitoring and development, generate various maps for tribal departments, develop and update quality assurance plans and protocols to properly store and manage data, and coordinate development of an exchange network node.
